Our Founding Fathers shared many Core Principles that they believed must be reflected in Government & Public Policy in order for our Country to succeed as a thriving Republic.
Liberty depends upon a climate of wholesome stimulation with Four Basic Freedoms in Operation:
The Freedom to try.
The Freedom to buy.
The Freedom to sell.
The Freedom to Fail.
Thomas Jefferson mentions happiness a couple of times in the Declaration of Independence. It may seem like a strange word to be used in that document… but He was an Artist.
He called the English “The disturbers of our harmony”. “Our” referring to us, We The People, government and all.
Now I sit and think on His words and the disturbers of our harmony today. As our government is no longer a part of “We” but has instead separated and become they.
I think it is best said in this quote from Alexander Tyler, a Scottish Professor, written in 1787:
- FROM BONDAGE TO SPIRITUAL FAITH
- FROM SPRITUAL FAITH TO GREAT COURAGE
- FROM GREAT COURAGE TO LIBERTY
- FROM LIBERTY TO ABUNDANCE
- FROM ABUNDANCE TO COMPLACENCY
- FROM COMPLACENCY TO APATHY
- FROM APATHY TO DEPENDENCE
- FROM DEPENDENCE BACK INTO BONDAGE
